Me!
I have been thinking for a while that I would like for everyone who follows my blog to get to know me and my family. For starters, my name is Zabrina, I am 30 and a mother of 2, my son Zachary (7) and my daughter Nevaeh (5). I am a former medical school student, I wanted to be a neurosurgeon. I am a Certified Surgical Technologist, and I love the medical field. Seriously, my friends in high school used to laugh because I read dictionaries for fun! I actually had a favorite book (still have it in my closet) I used to read from everyday. I would go through a letter everyday.
My son has vision problems, being almost blind on his left eye. He also has a heart defect, his aortic valve is only a bicuspid instead of tricuspid. They say he won't have any problems until he is older, like in his 30's or 40's, so we will worry about it later on, he goes to the cardiologist every 2 years right now, unless we have issues. He was also recently diagnosed with ADHD. I have struggled for about 4 years now to keep him off of medication, he tried therapies, diet, environmental things, and it just got to the point where receiving letters from the school concerning his focusing problems, I had to discuss it. Actually, he is doing wonderful on the medication they tried him on. He has calmed down substantially, started sleeping properly, and best of all : he can focus on the tasks he has at hand. He is also retaining a lot more information, remembering it later!
My daughter has phonologic disorder and a sensory processing disorder. She is super smart, but can't speak in sentences. She always has urges to touch things, feel textures, and must have sensory input at all times. She can also smell things for miles! She is a little hard to handle sometimes, as she is a very strong willed little girl... She wants things her way and that is it! Since she has the sensory processing disorder, there are things that she does that seem "weird" to others, but the hardest part, she doesn't feel pain properly. Due to this she has a very low fear level...as most kids learn from spills, falls, and scrapes etc...but she doesn't feel it. She has had stitches in her head, and never shed a tear! Shut her thumb in a screen door and went on like oh well time to play (the nail actually turned black immediately!). It's hard to tell when she is sick, as she doesn't feel symptoms until they are really severe. I mean most kids you can tell they are sick, not this one...They tell me she doesn't have CIPA, but just goes along with her sensory needs.

My fiancee and I have been together for 5 years this year! We tried to have our wedding several times, but the kids' needs are more important. He truly is an amazing man, to take on kids that aren't his, be a father when he doesn't have children of his own...We love him so much. WE are also expecting a child together - due February 2, 2014! He is so excited to have his own baby. He loves the kids so much don't get me wrong, but there is something different about a child when you made them. It is hard to explain. He has been with us since my daughter was 3 months old.

Our pets, Tailz and Whiskerz. Tailz is the Orange boy and Whiskerz is the Grey/Black boy. Something cool about them, they have no tails! We rescued Tailz a winter a couple years ago as a kitten, and my mother's neighbor had a litter of kittens and Whiskerz had no tail and I had to have him!

I love MUSIC, I play drums and guitar. Nothing fancy, just enough to have some fun. I LOVE LOVE LOVE, did I say LOVE, Heavy Metal music. I will give you a small list of my favorite bands, and note they are NOT kid friendly, they make ear buds for that lol - My Favorite all-time band is Slipknot, I LOVE Corey Taylor! I also LOVE his softer band StoneSour. Others I listen to are Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Alice In Chains, Avenged Sevenfold, Mudvayne, KoRn, Metallica, Skillet, Evanescence, Papa Roach, Pantera, Flyleaf, etc...
My favorite TV channel is Investigation Discovery. I love reading, scrapbooking, going to concerts, hunting, fishing, 4-wheelin', muddin', and anything outdoors! My favorite things to do are with my kids. We are always doing something fun together even if it is just a picnic lunch at the pond on a cool afternoon.
