About the Book
We’ve all watched super villains attempt to take over the world, but now… it’s our turn! The Ultimate Top Secret Guide to Taking Over the World (Sourcebooks Jabberwocky, ISBN 9781402238345, July 2011, Ages 9-12) by Kenn Nesbitt is the hilarious step-by-step instruction book on how to take over the world.
From evil robots to recruiting minions and perfecting a diabolical laugh, every reader can master the secret skills to world domination. With tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek, Kenn Nesbitt gives middle grade readers a laugh-out-loud romp through classic evil-doer dos and don’ts while sneaking in some sophisticated vocabulary and clever – if nefarious (mwah! ha! ha!) – reasoning skills.
By the time kids are done reading this ingenious book, they’ll have entire countries groveling at their feet. (Parents beware!)
My thoughts:
I thought this book was insanely funny! It had many different things to help you become the evil-doer genius everyone wants to be. I loved the humor expressed, and the section at the end for you to write in your own plans for taking over the world. Here is an excerpt
"You're going to learn all sorts of important stuff, including how to:
- Become a genius overnight -
-Think up your new Mad Scientist name
- Equip your underground lair
- Build evil robots
- Stop time for fun and profit
- Dress for conquest
- Clone mutant monsters
- Recruit minions
- Construct doomsday devices
- Defeat secret agents
- Perfect your diabolical laugh
- Choose your Mad Scientist theme song
- Spend your first billion dollars
- Do some other junk"
I thought the book was excellently worded for ages 9 and up, even adults will chuckle at this fun piece! I definitely recommend this book to children middle school and up, as well as adults who like quirky books to read.
