Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. TV Group tap Cryptozoic Entertainment for New Party Game based on hit TV series ‘The Big Bang Theory’
Burbank, CA and Irvine, CA – February 14, 2012 – Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Television Group announced a partnership today with Cryptozoic Entertainment™, the premier developer of original and licensed games including the World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game and The Walking Dead™ Board Game. Cryptozoic will develop and publish an exciting party game – The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game – based on one of the studio’s hottest television comedy series.
“With smart being the new sexy, we’re thrilled to be partnering with Cryptozoic on a fun, interactive game that allows fans to show off their insider, pop culture knowledge from ‘The Big Bang Theory’ hit television series,” said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President of Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “Cryptozoic has captured the smart and quirky nature of the show in an innovative way we’re sure loyal fans of the series will truly enjoy.”
Players of The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game will compete to pair category cards with show insider phrases and references. Points will be awarded based on judging and ranking the card combinations – the player with the most points wins. There are also special Bazinga! cards that add a bit of chaos and surprise to the gameplay. Every card offers a different “The Big Bang Theory” moment, complete with photographs from the show.
“With its popularity, smarts and wit, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ speaks to our audience of gaming fans, so it made perfect sense to create a game based on this amazing series,” said Scott Gaeta, chief operating officer for Cryptozoic Entertainment.
Designed for three to six players (ages 15 and up), The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game will be available at retailers nationwide, including Amazon, ThinkGeek.com, Barnes & Noble, Hastings and f.y.e. – for your entertainment, for an MSRP of $29.99. For more information on the April 2012 release of The Big Bang Theory: The Party Game, please visit www.cryptozoic.com – and be sure to keep up to date with special contests, promotions and game information on Cryptozoic Entertainment’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
“After five seasons and 100 episodes as one of television’s hottest comedies, a consistent ratings winner and a successful launch in syndication, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will now be able to add a little Bazinga! to homes and parties everywhere,” said Lisa Gregorian, Chief Marketing Officer, Warner Bros. Television Group.
“The Big Bang Theory” was created by Chuck Lorre (“Two and a Half Men”) and Bill Prady (“Dharma & Greg”), who also serve as executive producers along with Steven Molaro (“The Class”).
