This year the 22nd annual Food Drive through the United States Postal Service is taking place on Saturday - May 10, 2014!
From the Facebook Page:
"Now in its 22nd year, the Food Drive effort is the nation's largest single-day drive. In 2013, 74.4 million pounds of food was collected, which brought the grand total of donations to just under 1.3 billion pounds of food collected over the history of the drive.
The need for food assistance remains a problem in America.
For more information about the annual Letter Carriers’ Food Drive effort in your community, ask your letter carrier, follow the drive at http://www.twitter.com/StampOutHunger or http://www.nalc.org/commun/foodrive/index.html."
Join with 2 easy steps:
1. Collect and Bag non-perishable food items, such as: canned meats, fish, soups, juice, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, and rice. **Please do not give items that are expired or in glass containers.
2. Place the bagged items by your mailbox for the letter carrier to deliver to a local food bank or food pantry.
Yep, it's that simple to help someone in need.
