Magickeepers: The Chalice of Immortality Book 3 By: Erica Kirov Review & Trilogy Giveaway 7/12/11 (US ONLY)

Photobucket

I will start off by saying I have not read the other 2 books from this series, however, the story was still easy to keep up with and I was not lost at all. I am surly going to read the other 2 here shortly, just to get the other parts of this amazing story!

Here is the brief description provided on Amazon.com:
"Harry Houdini stole it from his best friend. Shakespeare used it to kill Macbeth. And it's the secret to Rasputin's terrifying existence.

The Chalice of Immortality has been missing for nearly a hundred years. Nick Rostov has only a few days to find it-or his father will die.

What would you do for a goblet with the power to control life and death?"

The whole setting through out the book is high in Russian history and culture. I find stories like these fascinating, since other countries are completely different than America. I love to learn about other culture and history. This book links the Chalice of Immortality through many famous people through out history, and creating almost like a journal filled with scenes and stories about the chalice and it's route through history. Erica Kirov has added the touch of real history to her story making the events believable.

The story is based around Nick and his cousin Isabella, being the magickeeper trainees. They are on a special journey to find the chalice of immortality to save Nick's father from a dark ancient spell cast buy the Shadow Keepers. The only thing that can break the spell is the chalice. They set off on a non stop adventure packed journey to retrieve the chalice and keep it out of the hands of the Shadow Keepers.

They are faced with many challenges and decisions through out the book that can change their lives. There is magic, witchcraft, a great deal of obstacles for them to overcome to save Nick's father. I would recommend this series to anyone with tween-teens, or people who like the middle grade youth books and series. I can not wait to read the other 2 books to see what I missed in the past. As I stated before though, this book can be read by itself with no real distraction from the story.

I believe Erica has done a beautiful job of creating a magnificent story using history and her Russian ancestry to put a twist on tale.

I learned that this author will do school visits or by Skype. And that this set of books is geared toward 8 to 13 year olds. My son teaches in that age range so I plan on telling him about this.
