April 21st as PowerTalk 21® Day - MADD & Nationwide Team Up For Power Of Parents

Photobucket

Mothers Against Drunk Driving has programs and activities to prevent underage drinking, starting with the Power of Parents program sponsored by Nationwide Insurance. To help you get started, they have designated April 21st as PowerTalk 21® day. It's a day for parents, kids and communities can take positive steps to open communications using the Power of Parents program and work together to end underage drinking.

Since nearly three out of four kids say their parents are the leading influence on their decisions about drinking, MADD helps mothers put that influence to work by offering a research-based handbook for talking with teens about alcohol.

At the website HERE, you can find a lot of different information such as, events, ways to get involved, and a list of all the partners involved in this great campaign. There is also a section to put in your location and find different parent workshops. These workshops are 30-minute parent workshops where parents and caregivers can receive a free parent handbook to equip them with the communication tools they need to talk to their teens about alcohol. You can search HERE!

April 21st is the day to talk to your kids about alcohol. You can find some great tips and information HERE like a flyer and some planning tips for your conversation.
