Savvy moms know every little bit counts when it comes to saving money. From shopping around for the best deals to clipping coupons each week, there are plenty of tips and tricks to stretch a household budget. As families grow and new bundles of joy arrive, it becomes even more important to spend smartly.

Perrigo Nutritionals store brand products are as nutritionally complete as the national brands, but cost significantly less. They are sold under individual retailer brands, such as Walmart’s Parent’s Choice and Target’s Up & Up Store brand product. Moms can purchase store brand products for their baby without compromising nutrition or spending a bundle!

Want more tips? Wife, mother, blogger extraordinaire Crystal Paine’s new book, “Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: 9 Simple Strategies to Stress Less, Sleep More, and Restore Your Passion for Life”, is full of advice on how to not only save, but set priorities and manage time and money. Paine’s book contains practical ideas, like purchasing store brand products, and simple solutions that will help any parent become a super saver!

Crystal Paine’s 5 Money Saving Tips for Families

Create a Budget
A budget gives you parameters and purpose, it gives you boundaries, and it gives you freedom to live creatively within those boundaries.

Shop With Cash
When you shop with a credit card (or even a debit card, for that matter!) you can have your budget in your head and you can do the best to stick with it when you check out, but it’s so much easier to go just a little bit over here and there when you’re swiping!

Plan a Menu
When you have a plan in place for what you’re supposed to be eating each meal and you’ve already purchased the ingredients for those recipes, it’s a lot harder to justify chucking the plan for takeout.

Use Coupons
Coupons are a great way to save a lot of money on your grocery bill, but they can be hard to keep up with. Clipping, sorting, and organizing coupons takes time — so enter a coupon database! You’ll have access to printable and other coupons currently available and it’s one of the most effective and efficient ways to save money on groceries.

Buy Store Brands
One way to save a great deal of money on your grocery budget is to learn to like and use a variety of brands. The sooner you can get over being a brand-snob, the more your pocketbook will thank you.
For example, while I breast fed my children, moms who choose to formula feed can save up to 50 percent by switching to store brand formula, which meets the same FDA quality standards as expensive name brands. There are also coupons available at a website - StoreBrandFormula.com (www.storebrandformula.com). This one simple change can save moms about $600 a year.

My thoughts on store brands:

I have 3 kids, a son who is 8, a daughter who is 5 and a new born who is just 5 weeks old. I have used store brands for all of them for some type of product or another. I was actually excited to get to try these out since it has been a while since I had a little one to use these items and it is great to try them out. I have used the Parent's Choice formula in the past with no issues with both my oldest, and can now with my newest addition. At this time baby Kenny is on Similac Sensitivie, so I will not be able to use this container of formula, but his Dr. has stated we will introduce regular formula in several weeks, so I will definitely give it a shot then. At this time, with him being so young, like many babies his digestive system is sensitive, and he is very gassy, so he needed a different type of formula for fussiness and gas...I have however checked and seen that Parent's Choice makes an equivalent to the Similac and it is half the price so I do believe we will be using it as well as the other products I already purchase.

I am also adding some rice cereal to his formula to help keep some volume and help with spit up. I use Parent's Choice. There are a couple reasons:

 photo 20140314_130257_zpse5eye1dj.jpg
** I purchased these cereals myself, they were not included in my prize pack.**

1. It is less expensive, even it is only $0.60 or so, for that I can grab a small bottle of water to throw in the car for the formula!

2. Gerber changed their packaging. Ok, it looks cool, it seems more practical, but the twist lid is a bit much and it comes off in my diaper bag! Talk about a mess and I lost the cereal I paid more for.

3. It is comparable to the Gerber nutrition wise.

I started reading Crystal's book, and it is pretty interesting so far. I can't to finish it and use her tips for budgeting and making menus.

We are having a baby!

**Disclosure: This post is for informational purposes only. No compensation was received for this post. All opinions are my own.

Well, I am pregnant! Only about 7 weeks, but I was totally not ready for it. I asked the Dr. about stopping birth control because they told me that it could take up to 6 months to get pregnant after the amount of time I was on it (almost 5 years). This was not the case it seems, I only stopped it in April, and BAM already pregnant! I mean, I thrilled to be having another baby. My kids are super happy about the little one coming too. Of course, my daughter will kill me if it is not a boy, since she was the only girl around until our foster girl came along, she tells me "I want a brover, this grill fing not workin!" That is exactly how she pronounced it and all with her phonologic disorder.

I have been doing some window shopping for the baby, I can't wait. This will be the last one, since I had so many problems with my daughter's pregnancy, not sure how this one will go, and I have had cervical cancer and breast cancer, I believe it is time to tie the tubes. I really don't want to get much older either, I am already 30, and man I don't want to be a senior citizen when my child is a senior in high school. Bless the people out there with the energy to still handle that thing at their age! I will probably have tons of baby reviews and giveaways going on through the new year so stay tuned and enter to win! I am due February 2, 2014.

Our lil foster girl is heading back with her mom on August 14th is not sooner. This will free up more of my time and I can get things back on track. There are just so many things required for her since she has so many issues. She has more therapies a week than my daughter, and I was super busy with just her and my sons appointments. Zach has, since I last updated everyone, been diagnosed with ADHD and I had to put him on medication. They have been wanting to do this for 4 years and I have refused, exclaiming there has to be something other than meds to help him. So, we did therapy, herbal things, diet, everything! I was getting certified letters from the school stating he can not focus and was having a hard time paying attention. I had him in tutoring, we worked so hard all school year on the things he didn't understand, all to no avail. I scheduled with the doc and gave in. I am kind of happy I did, he seems to be doing better, being less hyper, and paying attention more just in the past couple weeks. He doesn't get upset as easily, he is not angry all the time now. This was just something that had to happen. He says he feels better and even makes sure to remind me to give him his medicine every morning at breakfast...even though it is already waiting for him to get his cup with his drink in it!

I have a ton os awesome sweepstakes to post also! Have you won anything recently? I won a $200 visa gift card which I applies about $85 of it toward my Kindle Fire HD...I had over $100 in Amazon money from all the reward sites! Take care everyone!

Purex Baby Laundry Detergent Review & Giveaway (US ONLY/3 Winners) 1/15/13

Photobucket

I am certain that any thing Purex comes out will be amazing. I have been a Purex Insider for 2 years now, and have loved everything I have been so privileged to try and share with all of you. With 4 kids in the house now, there is more laundry than I ever thought possible. One thing I had not done was purchase baby detergent, my baby is 4 now... When the little foster boy, Evan, came I was shocked at the price of baby detergent now. I mean you expect it to be little more than regular detergent, but wow, amazing in the difference in price. When I received the news that Purex was havign insiders try out the Baby Detergent, I was so excited. You can see a shot of the laundry room below as of right now (Yuck I know.)

The thing with Purex products is, when I purchase them, I know I am getting my money's worth. They are high quality products at a price I can afford for my family. They are great on stains, fragrance, and all around convenience for finding them. There is a Purex product out there for all my laundry needs.

Back to the product at hand, Purex Baby Laundry Detergent! This stuff if awesome. It has that amazing baby smell to it, like baby powder (Only better, if you can imagine that.), it is colorless, and makes everything so soft. Evan has a ton of those fleece outfits, and he also just received several more for Christmas. Usually they get those little balls of fuzz on them that roll up from washing, not of outfit I have used in the Purex Baby Detergent has had any of that. He also received a few of those athletic outfits that are kind of silky, but not wind breaker material, it is hard to explain the texture, but with all my kids, those are the nightmare to keep nice. I washed his one little jacket 2 times and it still looks new, just softer. I went and washed all his bedding in the Purex Baby, and his bed is so soft and smells wonderful. My mom and her friend make quilts, they made him one for Christmas, since he had nothing of his own, and backed it with fleece, it looks wonderful after washing. He loves this quilt, it has Sesame Street Characters on the front, and this white fleece on the back. One of his little loves in life is a nice soft blanket. I guess it gives him security. He stole my son's plush Superman Blanket his first week here.

He also has this blue fleece elephant that is his baby. He loves this little guy so much. Thing is, little Evan, he slobbers, terribly. I have to wash the baby every once in a while. This detergent leaves him all nice and soft and intact! Little guy's bed is pictured below.
